Field Day 2013!

Let's hear it for another GREAT field day! Hooray!!!!! If your child is tired tonight, there is good reason. These pictures should explain it all. It was a busy--and FUN--day! I know I'm tired. It was great to see many of you there. It's hard to believe we only have three days left of first grade. :-( I will truly miss this bunch! Enjoy the pictures...this is a "photo dump" without a lot of comment because, as I said, it was a BUSY day! :-)

Bike Trip 2013

Thank you to EVERYONE for helping to make our annual bike ride field trip a reality once again! From bringing your child's bike to school and picking it up afterward, to being a chaperone on our trip, this trip truly takes a village to make happen. Your involvement is much appreciated--I think almost everyone had a great time! I took some pictures on our trip, and a parent email me a few too. So, here's a glimpse of our day yesterday! Thank goodness the rain held off for us--just a few sprinkles at lunch time.

Lining up...ready to ride!

On our way back to Airport Park!
They made it!

Potato Planting Time!

Last week, students participated in the first part of an exciting project--planting potatoes for the Colchester Food Shelf! Students each planted one potato and learned a bit about how potatoes grow. Next year, in second grade, they will harvest these potatoes and many of them will be donated to the Food Shelf to provide food for our community. The plant life cycle is a second grade science unit, so this project ties in nicely. Thank you to Ralph Perkins, one of the founders of Tuberville (www.tuberville.org) for organizing this collaboration.
