Students experienced their first writing celebration in first grade today. As I explained to the children, we start with a small audience and keep getting a bit bigger every time we publish. Today, students read their books to their reading/writing partners. We then enjoyed a small snack of popcorn and juice. I am proud of everyone's hard work! Your child's first round of writing will be sent home tomorrow, along with a note explaining what we practiced during our first writing unit of study, "Launching the Writing Workshop." Tomorrow we will begin a new unit of study--"Small Moments: Personal Narrative Writing." I look forward to helping your children continue to grow as writers!
