Hopes and Dreams for 1st Grade

Each school year at UMS, students are asked to think about something they would like to learn about or get better at doing. We call these their "Hopes and Dreams" for the school year. This goal-setting activity goes along with the Responsive Classroom philosophy for teaching and learning in place at our school. We believe it's important for students to think about and formulate learning goals and then to work to achieve these goals. Our students' Hopes and Dreams for first grade are displayed in the classroom as a visual reminder. Around the New Year, we'll revisit these goals. The artwork is something new for me, and I think it looks great!
